institute of asclepius hospital management
institute of asclepius hospital management (hereinafter referred to as “asclepius”) was established on jan. 9th ,2004 as an independent third-party institute. with the accumulated experience and database of chinese hospital competitiveness rankings, asclepius has established an evaluation system for the comprehensive competitiveness and specialist ability of china’s hospitals as well as star hospital evaluation system and smart hospital hic (hospital information connectivity) evaluation system. having been approved by the guangdong provincial department of education, asclepius is officially the internship base for students of the school of health management of southern medical university.
vision: to become the best third-party hospital evaluation agency in china with big data driven.
mission: to promote the professionalization of hospital management as well as the transparency of healthcare data. it strives to promote hospital management professionalism by hospital rankings, star hospital evaluation, bhi platform, management consulting and asclepius college of hospital management, and to promote the transparency of healthcare data by big data mining and research, hic ranking, smart hospital hic evaluation, hq-share (health quality share) platform.
asclepius has organized academic research on third-party evaluation of hospitals, medical big data, hospital specialist development, hospital operation efficiency, hospital investment and financing, and hospital development strategy; asclepius has published many research papers on hospital management in various journals on hospital management. meanwhile, asclepius also published a series of “blue book of hospitals”, such as “annual report on china’s hospital competitiveness (2017`2018)”, “annual report on china’s hospital evaluation (2018)”,“annual report on china’s hospital competitiveness (2017)”, “annual report on china’s hospital competitiveness(2016)”, “annual report on china’s private hospital competitiveness(2015)”, “annual report on china’s private hospital competitiveness(2014)”, and core members of asclepius once took the responsibility of the translation of jci accreditation standards(4th edition). as shown above, asclepius has published "blue book of hospitals" every year since 2016, based on the ranking results of china’s hospitals' competitiveness as well as the horizontal and vertical comparison and analysis of about 3,000 hospitals in different levels and different categories. additionally, from 2016, which is the time of launch of the star evaluation, to december 2018, more than 70 hospitals have participated in star hospital evaluation; from april 2018 when hic evaluation was launched, to december 2018, more than hospitals have participated.
